Ilan Shor, the former deputy and chairman of the “Shor” Party, has had 12 requests for lifting parliamentary immunity recorded against him between 2019 and the present. The High Court has declared him unconstitutional. The Prosecutor General of the Republic of Moldova submitted all of them by law. Marina Tauber received 8 applications, placing her in second position according to an analysis published by the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (PA).
From 2019 to date, the Prosecutor General has submitted requests for waiver of parliamentary immunity for nine Members of Parliament, according to the document. All were admitted. On the list: Ilan Shor, Marina Tauber, Reghina Apostolova, Vladimir Cebotari, Petru Jardan, Denis Ulanov, Radu Mudreac, Irina Lozovan and Alexandr Nesterovschi.
“It seems that Recean is afraid to come to Parliament with his pitiful report… So much is he afraid of us… So much so that even the Attorney General took him along. Ridiculous!” Marina Tauber’s response.
“Of these, criminal cases have been sent to trial for 5 MPs (2 cases in 2021 and 4 cases in 2023), while 2 MPs have been removed from prosecution (in 2020 and 2021). The criminal case for the remaining 2 MPs is currently at the prosecution stage, ” informs the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.

Parliament revoked the mandate of Ilan Shor, a fugitive oligarch. On 27 April 2023, the decision was made, two weeks after the Chisinau Court of Appeal (CA) sentenced him to 15 years in prison. He was found guilty of fraud and money laundering in particularly large proportions.
