Senator Anca Dragu, proposed by the parliamentary majority for the post of Governor of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), has already been sworn in as a citizen of the Republic of Moldova. The information was confirmed by Adriana Vlas, spokeswoman of the Action and Solidarity Party.

Meanwhile, Dragu also offered a reaction for Romanian journalists.

“It is an honor for me to contribute to Moldova’s European course. We need strong, independent institutions to ensure the economic stability of the country, and prosperity for all citizens. The announcement that the former finance minister from across the Prut could be appointed governor of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) was made on Friday morning, 22 December.

The Governor of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), Octavian Armașu, was dismissed from office on Thursday evening, December 21, 2023, with the vote of 81 deputies present in the hall. Earlier, Octavian Armașu had been heard, and among the main accusations against him was that he had not taken measures to protect the institution from employees involved in supporting the interests of the beneficiaries of bank fraud, in particular the group led by oligarch and fugitive Ilan Șor.

Octavian Armasu has been the Governor of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) since 30 November 2018. He has over 20 years of experience in the financial-economic sector. Before becoming Governor of the NBM, he served as Minister of Finance (2016-2018).
