The Centru Court of Appeal upheld the sentence under which former MP Marina Tauber received 7 years and 6 months in prison in a case involving the illegal financing of the political party to which she belonged and interference with the administration of justice.

The court delivered its decision on Friday, June 5, after examining the appeal filed in the case.

In September 2025, the Chisinau Court found Marina Tauber guilty of falsifying reports on the financing of an electoral campaign and a political party, accepting illegal funding from an organized criminal group, and interfering with the administration of justice.

Anti-corruption prosecutors requested a harsher sentence and asked the court to sentence the former lawmaker to 13 years in prison.

Marina Tauber is currently outside the Republic of Moldova. She left the country through Chisinau International Airport in January 2025 and traveled to Istanbul. Since then, she has not returned. Moldovan authorities later placed the former MP on an international wanted list.

While abroad, Marina Tauber repeatedly published photos and messages from the Russian Federation.
