On September 20, 2024, the electoral campaign begins for participants in the constitutional republican referendum and candidates for the office of President of the Republic of Moldova, set for October 20, 2024.
The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) reminds candidates that political advertising is prohibited during the campaign, allowing only electoral advertising for candidates and referendum participants registered with the CEC.
Additionally, electoral legislation bans candidates from using administrative resources. It includes launching or participating in infrastructure projects or public purchases from the national budget, as well as the use of public equipment or property. Public authorities and institutions, or their equivalents, may not transfer or grant public goods or other favors to electoral contestants unless done on equal terms under a contract.

Electoral contestants must not organize concerts, contests, or other events that involve domestic or foreign performers or artistic personnel. They may not display slogans, distribute materials, or use symbolism identifying them at these events, nor may they participate in such activities for political promotion. Candidates may organize meetings with voters, and authorities must ensure these meetings occur under equal conditions.
The Commission urges all electoral contestants to strictly follow the electoral legislation throughout the campaign.
The CEC has registered four candidates for the office of President of the Republic of Moldova, while five other applications are under review. Ten referendum participants have been registered, with two more applications pending. Those awaiting approval will begin campaigning once registered by the CEC.
