The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection initiated the creation of a Fund to reduce energy vulnerability. The project was voted during today’s Cabinet meeting. The creation of the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund will allow the invoicing of monthly compensations for the consumption of natural gas, electricity and heat, as well as a subsidy for the replacement of technically and morally obsolete appliances with some energy efficient ones.
In order to obtain monthly compensations, household energy consumers will register in the Energy Vulnerability Register – an electronic system, managed by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, which will allow the accumulation of data necessary to assign consumers in one of the categories of energy vulnerability.
The classification of the categories of vulnerable consumers is based on a series of parameters that will be approved by the Government, namely: income, number of family members, share of energy expenditure in household consumption, type of heating system used.
