Moldovan wines are becoming more appreciated on international markets, year by year. The price of a liter of wine has doubled in the last 9 years, stated the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, Vladimir Bolea, during the Forum in the field of winemaking, which was attended by representatives from Romania, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Egypt, Poland and Turkey, writes radiomoldova.md.
The wine sector represents a strategic branch of the national economy, and its importance is evident, emerging from the share of the sector in the Gross Domestic Product. This sector occupies three percent of the GDP of the Republic of Moldova and eight percent of the total amount of exports, said the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, Vladimir Bolea.
“Today we have succeeded since 2014, thanks to the work done by the Office and by our domestic producers, to go from a wine that is sold at 38 cents to the dollar for a liter, to one dollar and ten. It is phenomenal growth in a market extremely occupied by countries established in the production of quality wines, such as France, Italy, Spain. As a country, we can sit today proudly with them at a table, discusssing, comparing and competing”.
The example offered by the wine sector in our country deserves to be followed by other branches of industry in the Republic of Moldova. This is the opinion of the state secretary from the Ministry of Economy, Viorel Garaz.
“The wines from the Republic of Moldova are exported to more than 70 countries. They are among the most awarded wines in the world and this is proven by the statistics and international competitions. These successes should be transferred to other sectors of the national economy, such as the textile industry, why not the IT branch. We have the capacity to achieve these ambitions”
