The World Food Program is supporting Moldova with the refugees crisis

The provision of humanitarian assistance to Ukrainian refugees in host families in the Republic of Moldova will be facilitated in the World Food Program (WFP) Memorandum. MEPs voted in the plenary session on June 9th on the bill for ratification of the Memorandum in both readings.

The document sets out the main commitments of WFP activity in our country: import and delivery of food, direct provision of money to both Ukrainian refugees and host families in the Republic of Moldova, coordination of logistical issues related to the storage and transportation of humanitarian aid to town halls, placement centers and emergency shelters. WFP operations will be conducted for the first time in the Eastern European region.

The World Food Program is the UN’s food aid branch, the world’s largest humanitarian organization, which aims to strengthen food security and fight hunger. To date, more than 80 countries around the world have received WFP assistance.
