Usatii: I Advocate for the Adoption of a New Constitution for the Republic of Moldova

“The Republic of Moldova needs a new Constitution, which, first and foremost, will preserve the very viability of Moldova” stated Renato Usatii on the Constitution Day of the Republic of Moldova.

“I consistently advocate for the drafting and adopting a new Constitution through a broad national consensus. I am ready to work to achieve this goal in the state’s interest and with full responsibility toward the people. The new Constitution is not just a new law; it is a guarantor for the future of the Republic of Moldova and its citizens!” declared Renato Usatii in a message on his Telegram account.

The leader of Our Party reminded us that the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova was adopted 30 years ago, and it has undergone numerous opportunistic changes and interpretations.
“Every new political power has imposed its vision, altering the Constitution according to its immediate interests. When the power changed, so did the Constitution,” he said.

“What remains today of that Constitution in which its authors, renowned experts in constitutional law, economists, historians, and deputies, invested their knowledge and wisdom? Today, even the most recognized constitutional law experts cannot specify how many amendments and interpretations they have introduced to the supreme law. It is embarrassing to see how in Parliament, those who praise the Constitution today are often the same ones who treat it with disdain, ignoring the aspirations of the people, the principles of justice, and the rule of law. The most concerning is that we will witness even more changes to the Constitution if we do not act to stop them,” stated Usatii.
