Veaceslav Platon, who is evading Moldovan justice and currently residing in London, has announced the formation of the “Fenix Moldova” political party. In a post on his Telegram channel, Platon states that he founded the party with a group of individuals who were united by a “common idea that has its own historical purpose.”
The Fenix Moldova party aims to assist the country in overcoming its current situation. Which may come as a surprise to some. This will make us talk about the Moldovan nation as people who made a miracle in transforming the state and their own lives. Our team possesses the necessary knowledge, competence, experience, and skills to accomplish it. It is a task that no one else in the country can undertake,” Platon wrote.
Veaceslav Platon departed Moldova in the summer of 2021. After being found not guilty in the bank fraud case, he was sentenced to 18 years in prison. Last year, the European Union, the United States of America, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and Canada included him in their “international sanctions lists for destabilising Moldova.”
