The year 2023 was one of many challenges and a long list of homework, Justice Minister Veronica Mihailov-Moraru concluded. In the context of Moldova’s accession to the European Union, the institution had made significant efforts to reform the justice system, she said.
“As a candidate state for accession to the European Union, we have made every effort to make progress in reforming the justice system, fighting corruption, strengthening human rights protection mechanisms, and improving citizens’ access to justice. The opening of the accession negotiations with the European Union, as well as the high evaluation by the US Department of State, is a recognition of the work done, as well as a hope that we will manage to build a European Moldova at home, with a fair, transparent justice system based on respect for human rights and the rule of law,” Veronica Mihailova-Moraru said, moldova1 reports.
