Maia Sandu invited representatives from several political parties to public consultations at the Presidential Office. However, she did not specify whether opposition politicians would be included. She made this statement during a press conference after the Supreme Security Council (SSC) meeting, where they discussed political corruption and the need to improve efforts to combat it.
Maia Sandu announced that on Thursday and Friday, towards the end of the week, she would invite representatives from political parties, civil society members and stakeholders, and public consultations at the Presidential Office. The main focus of these discussions will be political corruption and the actions needed to combat it.

She emphasized that the recent elections and referendum were detrimental to a single political party or candidate, but many candidates and political parties were affected by vote-buying. Sandu stressed the importance of ensuring that Moldovan citizens, not illicit money, decide the country’s leadership. The consultations will include debates on proposals from the Government and other political parties, aiming to quickly introduce sanctions and eliminate this harmful phenomenon that threatens both Moldova’s democracy and its security.
In the same speech, the head of state also mentioned, “Within a maximum of 10 days, we must have all the plans discussed, elaborated, and reached consensus on, if you will, at the national level, regarding the actions we need to take.”
After the meeting of the Supreme Security Council (SSC) on Monday, November 11, it was announced that the government would be required to amend the law to ensure faster examination of electoral corruption cases. The head of state pointed out that the group led by Ilan Shor has been involved in political corruption for about 10 years. She also reminded everyone of the elections for the Governor of Gagauzia, as well as the local elections, referendum, and presidential elections, highlighting that during these events, vote-buying had occurred.
