The Moldovan prime minister met with the UN secretary general. What did the officials discuss?

Prime Minister Dorin Recean and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres discussed Moldova’s ongoing reforms, the results of the Moldova Partnership Platform, and recent extreme weather events, according to the government’s communication department.

The Prime Minister thanked the UN for supporting Moldova’s EU accession process and efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

“When united, we are strong. It is evident in the many projects we implement together, whether modernizing infrastructure, improving living conditions, or managing the refugee crisis caused by Russia’s brutal war against Ukraine,” Recean stated.

During their meeting in New York, held in the context of the 79th UN General Assembly session, Recean and Guterres also discussed the recently approved Pact for the Future and ways to strengthen cooperation between Moldova and UN agencies in the country. Recean raised the possibility of new country programs and increased assistance to address the crises caused by the war in Ukraine and climate change.

Additionally, the Prime Minister highlighted Moldova’s progress in renewable energy, gender equality, digitalization of services, infrastructure, and other key areas.
