The state anticipates that 10,000 entrepreneurs operating in the social sectors will apply for compensations following the increase in the electricity charge, said Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Dumitru Alaiba. According to the official, 50% of the electricity charge will be compensated with state budget funds, IPN reports.
Among those eligible are the entrepreneurs working in the agricultural and agri-food sectors, those who carry out economic activities in the fields of forestry, fisheries and manufacturing, with some exceptions.
The procedure for asking for compensation was simplified and applications can be filed online, through the EVO (www.evo.gov.md) or MCabinet (www.mcabinet.gov.md) platforms.

“Every accountant knows what this means,” Dumitru Alaiba said in the program “At 360 Degrees” on Radio Moldova station.
The minister admitted that the state cannot guarantee that prices will not rise with the increase in the electricity charge. However, through this compensation mechanism, the Government intends to mitigate the financial impact on entrepreneurs working in the targeted sectors.
“The message we deliver by granting compensations is that these compensations must support the entrepreneurs during this period so that the price rise is moderated,” stressed Dumitru Alaiba.
Under a Government decision, the state will cover for the eligible entrepreneurs 50% of the increase in the electricity charge over a period of three months: January, February and March 2025.
