Ala Nemerenco, Moldovan Minister of Health – elected as a member of the WHO Executive Committee

The World Health Assembly (WSS) approved by vote the nomination of Ala Nemerenco as a member of the WHO Executive Committee. The main functions of the Committee are to prepare the AMS agenda and resolutions and to implement its decisions and policies.

Thus, the Minister of Health will participate in the 151st session of the WHO Executive Committee, which will take place on May 30, 2022, in Geneva, Switzerland.

The agenda of the 151st session of the WHO Executive Committee includes topics such as the analysis of the results of the 75th session of the AMS, the hearing of the reports of the Program, Budget and Administration Committee of the Executive Committee, the analysis of the mandate of the Standing Committee on Preparation and Pandemic Response and Emergencies, planning future WSS sessions and Executive Committee meetings

The Executive Committee meets in Geneva twice a year and is made up of 34 members, senior health professionals, elected for a three-year term.

In addition to the above, the Executive Committee shall be responsible for proposing to the WHO the candidacy of the Director-General of the WHO, for advising the AMS at its request and for proposing on its own initiative, for drawing up the WHO’s general work program take urgent action to address the challenges that require an immediate WHO response.
