Breaking news! Chisinau City Hall convenes a meeting of the Commission for exceptional situations after last night’s rains.

Andrei Pavaloi, deputy head of the General Directorate of Education, Youth, and Sport of the Chisinau municipality, told realitatea.md that the educational institutions in the Buiucani sector of the capital were in the worst situation. Strong winds caused small trees to fall across six institutions, including five kindergartens and a high school.

Ion Ceban, the Mayor of Chisinau, announces that the Chisinau Exceptional Situation Commission has declared a force majeure situation in the city.

“Authorities are currently making further estimates and assessments of the degree of damage. They are calculating the damage to allocate financial resources following yesterday evening’s storm. They will set up separate teams in each sector.

In the meantime, work continues in all sectors to remove the damage. The situation is serious, and we ask citizens to be vigilant,” said the mayor.

The Chisinau Commission for Exceptional Situations members hold an emergency meeting today after last night’s storm.

“There is more damage as a strong wind result, and emergency interventions include damaged roofs, roads, street furniture, electric wires, damaged cars, and damage to educational and social institutions. A few minutes ago, a meeting with municipal officials ended, where we discussed the current situation following the night storm of 11-12 June. There are also serious situations in the capital’s suburbs. Authorities are currently assessing and evaluating the situation while taking action. If necessary, they will request financial support,” Ion Ceban said.

We remind you that, following heavy rain and strong winds on the night of 11 to 12 June, several localities in the center of the country and the capital were affected.

At the same time, the storm left dozens of localities without electricity.
