Bronze medal for the team of Moldova at the IOI

The team of the Republic of Moldova obtained a bronze medal and an honorable mention in the International Informatics Olympiad held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The competition took place between August 7-15, 2022. 349 students from 88 countries participated in this year’s International Informatics Olympiad.

According to the Ministry of Education and Research, the bronze medalist is Victor Purice, a student at the “Orizont” Theoretical High School in the municipality of Chisinau, and an honorable mention went to Victor Vorona, a student at the same high school.

The Republic of Moldova was represented at this Olympiad by 4 students and 2 teachers:

  • Veaceslav Guzun, 11th grade student, Private Educational Institution “Orizont” Theoretical High School, DurleÈ™ti, Chisinau municipality;
  • Victor Vorona, eleventh grade student, Private Educational Institution “Orizont” Theoretical High School, DurleÈ™ti, Chisinau municipality;
  • Victor Purice, 12th grade student, Private Educational Institution “Orizont” Theoretical High School, DurleÈ™ti, Chisinau municipality;
  • Marian Soltan, 10th grade student, “Aristotel” Republican Theoretical High School, Chisinau municipality;
  • Sergiu Corlat, master in exact sciences, vice-rector for digitization, State University of Moldova;
  • Igor Bercu, Head of Digital Platforms Directorate, Electronic Government Agency.

The Ministry of Education and Research and the National Agency for Curriculum and Evaluation thanked the members of the Republican Olympic Council for Informatics for their dedication and involvement in the preparation of the national Olympic team.
