Dorin Recean met with Robert Fico: “We talked about Moldova’s place in the great European family”

Prime Minister Dorin Recean met today, September 10, with his Slovak counterpart Robert Fico. During the meeting, the officials discussed Moldova’s place in the EU and Slovakia’s support.

”In my discussion with my counterpart Robert Fico, we covered Moldova’s place in the great European family. We also emphasized our ongoing reliance on Slovakia’s support and that of our partners. Additionally, I invited Slovak companies to explore the investment opportunities available in Moldova. This includes opportunities in digital innovation and advanced technology services,” wrote the Prime Minister.

The Moldovan official also noted that 20 years ago, the citizens of Slovakia chose a future in the union of democratic countries by voting in the referendum to join the European Union.

”Twenty years ago, Slovaks voted with a 93% majority in a referendum to join the EU, choosing a future in the union of democratic countries. Since joining, Slovakia has achieved remarkable progress: it has grown its economy by 80%, doubled salaries, created hundreds of thousands of new jobs, and halved poverty. For years, Slovakia was the world’s leading car producer per capita.

EU membership has made Slovakia more prosperous, innovative, and powerful. It is also our goal for Moldova. We have a plan for a European Moldova and are committed to continuing the reforms needed to improve living conditions, ensure peace, and promote prosperity,” said Dorin Recean.

It is worth noting that on Tuesday, September 10, Prime Minister Dorin Recean is undertaking a working visit to Slovakia.
