Moldovan President Maia Sandu left for a working visit to Canada. The head of state met with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and other high-ranking officials of the country.
“Thank you for the warm reception and fruitful meeting, Justin Trudeau. A momentous occasion as the first Moldovan President’s visit to Canada since ’92. Grateful for Canada’s support in our pursuit of democratic reforms and look forward to boosting our already strong cooperation.
Productive conversation with HoCSpeaker, focusing on enhancing Moldova-Canada ties and parliamentary cooperation. Emphasized our commitment to democracy, domestic reforms, and anti-corruption efforts. We are united as we stand with Ukraine during these challenging times”, Maia Sandu said.
At the meeting between the president and the head of the cabinet of ministers, they also discussed how Canada can help our country with solving the problems that have arisen in the region.
“Had a productive meeting with the Governor General of Canada in Ottawa. Discussed Moldova’s challenges from the war next door, our continued support for the Ukrainian refugees, and our domestic reform efforts. Urged Canada to sanction fugitive oligarchs to help us fight corruption”, the president of the Republic of Moldova said.
