France will offer considerable support to Moldova

The French Development Agency will provide budgetary support to our country and will finance development projects in important areas such as energy, water supply and sewerage, irrigation and afforestation. The announcement was made by the country’s president, Maia Sandu, after the meeting she had in Paris with the general director of the French Development Agency Remy Rioux.

According to Maia Sandu, the Agency will start carrying out the projects in our country this year.

“Before leaving for home, I talked to Remy Rioux, the director general of the French Development Agency, about the projects that this institution will carry out in the Republic of Moldova starting this year. The agency will provide budget support to our country and will finance development projects in important areas such as energy, water supply and sewerage, irrigation and afforestation “, wrote Maia Sandu on a social network.

The head of state also spoke with the director of the Agency about the financing of the modernization of the Chisinau-Ungheni railway section, which will allow the connection of the Moldovan railway network to the European network.

“France is an important partner of the Republic of Moldova, the connection between our countries being due both to belonging to the Francophonie space, and to the growing economic, cultural and interpersonal relations. The development projects, which the French Republic will carry out in Moldova through AFD, will further strengthen this friendship and will contribute to the improvement of the lives of our citizens “, it is also shown in the message of the president.

We remind you that, between May 18-19, Maia Sandu was on an official visit. On the first day he flew to Brussels, where he met with high-ranking European officials such as European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, MEPs from various parliamentary factions. Sandu also delivered a speech in the European plenary, urging the Member States to support the Republic of Moldova in submitting its application for EU membership.

In Paris, Maia Sandu had a meeting with the French President Emmanuel Macron and the President of the Upper House of the French Legislature, Gérard Larcher.
