The soldiers from the first contingent of the National Army, seconded to the mission of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) began their mission in Lebanon.
During a ceremony of transfer of authority, held in the Multinational Base Sector West HQ UNP 2-3, in the locality of Shama, they took over the duties of the Armenian peacekeepers who were part of the Italian contingent.
UNIFIL is the first UN mission to which the Republic of Moldova has sent a contingent of 32 professional soldiers. They arrived in Lebanon on February 16.
