The Consulate General of Kazakhstan in the Republic of Moldova is to be transformed into an Embassy. The announcement was made by the country’s president, Maia Sandu, after the meeting she had on September 21, at the UN General Assembly in New York, with her Kazakh counterpart, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The meeting between the two officials took place at the UN headquarters in New York. The two heads of state discussed topics of common interest on the bilateral agenda.
“Maia Sandu, on Tuesday, had a meeting with the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, at the UN headquarters in New York. The two heads of state discussed topics of common interest on the bilateral agenda. The President noted that our country is open to wider cooperation with Kazakhstan in the economic, energy and agricultural sectors. Likewise, he welcomed Kazakhstan’s decision to deepen bilateral relations, by transforming the diplomatic mission in Chisinau from a Consulate General to an Embassy,” a press release from the Presidency states.

On Wednesday, September 21, Maia Sandu gave a speech in the plenary of the Assembly, where she presented the opinion of the Republic of Moldova on this subject.
We specify that a delegation from the Republic of Moldova, which includes the country’s president, is participating in the opening of the general debates of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly. The delegation also includes the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration.
