Maia Sandu confirmed that Russia violated Moldova’s airspace. According to the message published by the President, the Republic of Moldova condemns the Russian attacks on Ukraine launched on December 25, the Christmas New Year.
The Moldovan military announced earlier that their devices did not detect the missile that allegedly flew over Moldova and then passed through Romania on its way to the Ukrainian region, as claimed by the country’s border police.
“While our countries celebrate Christmas, the Kremlin chooses destruction—targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and violating Moldova’s airspace with a missile, actions that violate international law. Moldova condemns these acts and stands in full solidarity with Ukraine,” Maia Sandu said on social network X.

On Christmas morning, Russia targeted Ukraine’s energy system with missiles and drones. Moldova’s energy system, connected to Ukraine’s, remains stable, with no failures reported.
A Border Police patrol observed a missile launched by Russia in the Iampol-Coseuti direction. The missile allegedly crossed Moldova’s airspace near Otaci-Mogilev-Podolski and exited across the border into Romania near Dorohoi-Herta.
