President Maia Sandu met with His Majesty, King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands in The Hague. Bilateral relations, the EU accession process, and the support provided by the Dutch partners in various areas were discussed during the meeting.
“We discussed with King Willem-Alexander the deepening of economic relations and the increase in trade exchanges. We are interested in collaborating in the agri-food sector. Likewise, I spoke with His Majesty about security risks in our region and the actions we are taking to enhance the country’s resilience. The European Union is a project of peace and democracy, which is why we want to be a part of this project,” stated Maia Sandu.
From September 4th to 5th, the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, is conducting a working visit to the Kingdom of the Netherlands to promote our country’s accession to the EU and bilateral economic relations. The head of state has already met with Moldovan citizens living in the Netherlands.

On September 6th, the president will travel to Bucharest to participate in the Three Seas Initiative Summit, where she will meet with heads of state and government from Central Europe and discuss investments in infrastructure projects that will connect us to the EU.
By the end of this year, President Maia Sandu will have several visits to EU countries to discuss with European partners and strengthen their political support for initiating EU accession negotiations.
