Moldova Unites: Massive Gathering in Support of European Integration at ‘European Moldova’ Assembly

Today, on May 21st, the ‘European Moldova’ Assembly will take place in the heart of the city at the Great National Assembly Square (PMAN). From 11:00 am, citizens are expected to gather and express their desire to be part of the European family. The event is organized at the initiative of President Maia Sandu, who presents compelling arguments as to why Moldovans should participate in this historic gathering.

The Assembly is set to host not only ordinary citizens but also deputies, mayors, and foreign officials. The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, has announced her presence at the manifestation. The Republic of Moldova’s police force will ensure the smooth organization of the event. To facilitate the assembly, partial traffic restrictions will be implemented on Stefan cel Mare Boulevard.

“The traffic will be temporarily suspended on Stefan cel Mare Boulevard, between Mitropolit Gavriil Bănulescu-Bodoni Street and Aleksandr Pușkin Street, starting from 8:00 am on May 20 until 8:00 am on May 22, 2023,” announced the authorities in Chisinau.

Public transportation routes passing through the Great National Assembly Square will be redirected to adjacent streets.

Event Agenda

The “Moldova Europeană” Assembly will commence with the national anthem of the Republic of Moldova performed by soprano Valentina Naforniță. The Moldova Youth Orchestra and the “Moldova” Choir will then present the anthem of the European Union.

Subsequently, President Maia Sandu and the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, will deliver speeches. Maestro Eugen Doga will perform “Ode to Europe,” followed by other notable addresses to the citizens.

Starting from 12:00 pm, the main stage at the Great National Assembly Square will feature a musical recital and words of support from the Moldova Youth Orchestra, Cristofor Aldea-Teodorovici, and Cătălin Josan.

At 12:30 pm, other addresses to the citizens will take place, with the adoption of the “Moldova Europeană” Assembly Resolution scheduled for 1:00 pm. Afterward, Vali Boghean Band, along with Nicolae Botgros and the “Lăutarii” Orchestra, will take the stage to entertain the crowd.
