Moldova will receive a $10.5 million grant from the World Bank. The authorities will use the funds for state budget needs.
“The authorities will disburse the funds in a single tranche once they meet 11 conditions. These include amending the Social Assistance Law, revising the Labor Code to increase hiring flexibility, updating the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund legislation, and changing the Competition Law, among others. They set the deadline for disbursing the $10.5 million as June 30, 2026,” according to a statement from Parliament.
On July 11, 2024, our country signed the grant agreement with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the International Development Association to co-finance the “Development Policy Operation Program for Supporting Growth and Resilience in Moldova.”
Moldova will receive a €37.3 million loan and a $5 million grant. The authorities will provide the funds as budget support and disburse them in a single tranche. The loan will mature in 29 years, with a 9-year grace period.
