Moldovan Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu Heads to Ireland for European Parliament Presidents Conference

The President of the Parliament, Igor Grosu, will participate in the European Conference of Parliament Presidents from member states of the Council of Europe. The meeting will take place from September 28th to 29th in Dublin.

“The European summit will bring together parliament presidents from 46 member countries of the Council of Europe, representatives of partner or observer countries, and heads of various parliamentary assemblies. The topics to be addressed include the consequences of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and the role of national parliaments in the reconstruction of Ukraine; challenges to representative democracy in unstable times; equality and diversity in public representation – the participation of youth, women, and ethnic and social groups as members of parliament,” informs the Parliament.

The President of the Parliament, Igor Grosu, will deliver an address at the summit, during the discussion panel on the consequences of Russian aggression against Ukraine.

In Dublin, Igor Grosu has scheduled meetings with his counterparts from Germany, Finland, the Netherlands, Ukraine, and Belgium. Additionally, the legislative leader plans to meet with Moldovan citizens who live, work, or study in Ireland.

The European Conference of Parliament Presidents from member states of the Council of Europe is held under the auspices of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and takes place every two years. The current edition is expected to be attended by over 60 parliament presidents and vice-presidents and over 400 delegates.
