The economy of the Republic of Moldova is affected by the recession. The World Bank worsened the forecast, according to the “Global Economic Outlook” report.
According to the results from the end of 2022, the economy of Moldova is expected to decrease by 1.5%, and in 2023 to register an increase of 1.6%.
Compared to last year’s June forecast, GDP growth indicators decreased by 1.1% both last year and this year.

In 2024, according to the World Bank, the economy of the Republic of Moldova will grow by 4.2%.
Previously, the International Monetary Fund recently forecast that Moldova’s economy will decline by 1.5% in 2022 and GDP will grow by 1.5% in 2023.
The Moldovan government previously announced that in 2022, GDP will decrease by 3% – up to 278.2 billion lei, and in 2023, GDP will increase by 2% – up to 308.8 billion lei.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the GDP of the Republic of Moldova for January-September 2022 was 197.8 billion lei, down 4.1% in real terms compared to the same period of 2021. Data on GDP dynamics for the whole year 2022 are not yet available.
