The National Center for Sustainable Energy (CNED) has announced financial support for owners of 16 individual houses in rural areas to implement energy efficiency measures and lower their energy bills.
Beneficiaries can use the funds to install heating systems based on solid biofuels, insulate exterior walls, roofs, and basements, or modernize or install domestic water heating systems. They can also upgrade lighting, replace doors and windows, and improve heating systems. Depending on the chosen measures, households could cut annual energy consumption by up to 50%.
The selected homeowners received energy audit reports, enabling them to apply for funding through the Residential Energy Efficiency Fund (FEERM). The CNED will cover 95% of eligible investment costs, with beneficiaries contributing 5%. GIZ Moldova supported the preparation of energy audit reports as part of the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy in the Republic of Moldova project.
