According to the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MAEIE), Vladimir Cuc, the majority of actions planned in the implementation plan of the proposed conditions by the European Commission to the Republic of Moldova have been achieved. Speaking on the public radio show “Paralela 47”, Cuc stated that these actions include the modification and adoption of laws aimed at ensuring the proper functioning of state institutions.
Cuc highlighted the high intensity of actions taken by authorities, stating that at the current moment, around 40% of the actions have been implemented, with around 40% in the final or advanced stages. He also noted that this percentage is increasing, and only around 20% of the 60 actions still require further effort or consolidation. Cuc explained that if 40% and 40% are combined, this would equate to around 80% of the actions being completed and in the final stages, with the remaining 20% still needing attention.
It is worth noting that in June 2022, the Republic of Moldova obtained candidate country status for accession to the European Union. This decision was unanimously approved by all EU member states at the European Council summit held in Brussels. The European Commission recommended that the Republic of Moldova meet nine basic conditions, the majority of which focus on justice reform, anti-corruption efforts, deoligarchization, and strengthening the capacity of public administration.
