Romanian Parliamentary Delegation Visits Moldova to Discuss Judicial Reform and European Integration

The Committee on Legal Affairs, Appointments and Immunities of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova is set to convene in a joint session with the Committee on Legal Affairs, Discipline and Immunities of the Chamber of Deputies of the Romanian Parliament on Thursday, March 23, 2023, in Chișinău.

The upcoming meeting is part of a larger visit by a delegation from the Romanian Parliament’s Committee on Legal Affairs, Discipline, and Immunities, led by the committee’s president, Laura Vicol. The delegation will be in Chișinău from March 22 to March 24, during which time they will meet with the President of the Parliament, Igor Grosu, and members of several other committees.

The agenda of the visit includes meetings with members of the Committee on External Policy and European Integration, the Committee on National Security, Defense and Public Order, and the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Romania.

One of the most significant meetings of the delegation will be with the Minister of Justice, Veronica Mihailov-Moraru. The discussions during this meeting will focus on the ongoing reforms in the Moldovan justice system and the country’s European integration path.

The visit comes at a time of increased cooperation between Romania and Moldova. Romania has been a strong supporter of Moldova’s integration with the European Union, providing financial assistance and technical expertise to support the country’s reform efforts.

The upcoming joint session of the legal committees of the two parliaments is expected to further strengthen the ties between the two countries and contribute to the continued progress of Moldova’s reform efforts.
