Imports of apples to Russia from China increased 2.9 times in January-July 2024, compared with the same period in 2023, reaching 22.2 thousand tons, according to the association “Rusprodsoyuz,” BANI.MD reports.
In the same period of 2023, imports from China amounted to 7.6 thousand tons. The association also noted that prices for apples imported from China have decreased. In the first seven months of 2024, the average price was $ 904.4 per ton, 24.1% lower than the previous year.
According to the cited source, in parallel, the average retail prices for apples in Russia saw a decline. On Sunday, September 22 this year, the price was 150.5 rubles per kilogram, 2% less than in the previous week and 7.5% less than in the previous month.

In June 2024, Russian Federation’s Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut announced a revision of Russia’s apple production forecast 2024, lowering the estimate from 1.8 million tons to 1.5 million tons due to frosts, BANI.MD reports. The Agriculture Ministry is working with friendly countries to secure additional deliveries of apples.
At the same time, in mid-September, Lut announced an updated forecast, raising the 2024 apple crop estimate to 1.6 million tons.
