The economy of the Republic of Moldova is affected by the crisis. The country’s economy contracted by 4.1% in nine months of the year, compared to the same period of the previous year. The GDP totaled 197.8 billion lei, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics.
A negative impact on the evolution of GDP in the third quarter of 2022 compared to the third quarter of 2021 was had by agriculture influencing the decrease in GDP by 3.5%, wholesale and retail trade; maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles – 1.9%, real estate transactions -1.2% and manufacturing industry -1.2%.
An insignificant but positive influence on the economy was had by financial business and insurance, information and communications with 0.4% each and accommodation (+0.1%).

The Ministry of Economy claims that Moldova’s GDP will amount to 278.2 billion lei, compared to the 286.5 billion lei previously estimated, and that the indicator will decrease by 3% compared to 2021, while in March it was expected a modest increase of 0.3%. In the next three years, the economy ministry expects economic growth in the range of 2%, 3.5% and 4%.
