For the first time, the Republic of Moldova hosted the Researchers’ Gala. Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun awarded 32 prizes, recognizing three researchers with Diplomas from the Government of the Republic of Moldova and 29 others with Diplomas from the Ministry of Education and Research (MER) for their contributions to research and innovation.
The MEC launched the Researchers’ Gala as a new initiative to establish a tradition of celebrating excellence in research.
“Today, more than ever, the Republic of Moldova needs researchers. Facing global challenges, from climate crises to rapid technological transformations, we understand that our future depends on innovation and sustainable solutions. As a society, we must support research and people working in this field. By investing in research infrastructure, promoting policies that stimulate excellence, and recognizing the value of researchers, we can build a strong and resilient Moldova ready for the future,” stated Minister Perciun during the event.

The MEC reported progress in research and innovation over the past year, implementing recovery measures, including a new funding methodology. This system allocates 90% of funds to research institutions, ensuring stability, fundamental activities, and sustainability.
The Ministry also created new research opportunities, like bilateral projects with Romania.
The Republic of Moldova signed 52 research grant agreements under the “Horizon Europe” Program.
