Minister of Labor and Social Protection Alexei Buzu announced that the government will provide additional compensation to help citizens cope with rising electricity tariffs. He made this statement during the “Rezoomat” program on RliveTV.
“We are actively considering this measure. Beneficiaries of existing compensations will receive financial support for electricity costs if rates continue. Once the new tariffs are announced, we will explain our next steps. But yes, we will provide additional aid for electricity to compensation recipients,” Alexei Buzu emphasized.
The minister blamed the tariff increases on energy blackmail carried out by the Kremlin and Gazprom, accusing them of attempting to destabilize the country’s economic and social stability.

“Let me be clear—these increases result from the Kremlin and Gazprom’s blackmail targeting citizens in Moldova’s eastern region. This situation will also push up rates in the western part of the Nistru River,” Buzu clarified during the broadcast.
Premier Energy proposed raising rates for household consumers to 5.13 MDL per kilowatt-hour (kWh), up from the current 2.34 MDL. Meanwhile, FEE Nord requested an increase to 4.53 MDL per kWh, compared to the current 2.84 MDL, according to submissions filed with ANRE by electricity providers.
