The project to create a publicly funded television channel for Russian speakers has sparked heated societal debates. PAS MP Eugeniu Sinchevici, the initiative’s author, explained the reasoning behind the project and the need for the state to ensure access to information in Russian during the Rezoomat show on RLIVE TV.
“Both PAS and I want more citizens to learn Romanian. That is why we created a Romanian language learning program. Nearly 10,000 adult citizens are now learning Romanian with public funds. We want this to become even more widespread. At the same time, language learning policies do not bring results overnight,” Sinchevici explained.
The MP emphasized the need for a long-term strategy to promote the Romanian language.

“A language promotion policy must function as a state policy with effects in 10, 20, or even 30 years. Until now, no such policy existed. We are only now implementing it. Learning Romanian is one step. The second step involves encouraging Romanian language teachers to go to Gagauzia and teach Romanian classes.”
Sinchevici also highlighted the necessity of a TV channel for Russian speakers and stressed the importance of providing accurate information immediately.
“A Russian-speaking population needs access to information now, not in 20 years,” the MP pointed out.
The new public television channel in Russian, Moldova 3, could rely entirely on grant funding. PAS MP Eugeniu Sinchevici, one of the project’s authors, announced this plan during the Rezoomat show on RLIVE TV. He confirmed ongoing discussions with potential donors and promised to provide further details soon.
