According to data published by the National Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Moldova, as cited by Infoprut.ro, during the period of January-June, travel agencies and tour operators provided services for over 173,000 tourists and excursionists, marking a 22.1% increase compared to the same period in 2022.
In this light, 16,500 tourists from abroad visited the Republic of Moldova through travel agencies during the January-June 2023 period, representing an increase of over 58% compared to the same period last year. The majority of these tourists were from Romania, accounting for 34.7% of the total visitors to the Republic of Moldova.
Tourists from Romania were followed by those from Italy (16.8%), Ukraine (13.7%), Germany (9.4%), and France (6.6%).
Statistical data further reveals that during January-June 2023, approximately 118,000 citizens of the Republic of Moldova traveled abroad for excursions through travel agencies and tour operators, marking a 22.2% increase compared to the same period in 2022. Citizens of the Republic of Moldova predominantly chose destinations such as Turkey (42.2% of the total traveling abroad), Egypt (16.8%), Bulgaria (13.6%), Romania (13.3%), and Greece (4.0%).”
