In the next 8 years the number of livestock farms would increase by 50%, the volume of animal production – by 50%, and in a period of 5 years and it is desired to reduce the prices of animal products delivered to processors and final consumers. Such provisions are found in the draft law voted today, July 21, in the final reading, on amending the law on zootechnics, in order to bring it in line with EU rules.
The purpose of the amendments is to create conditions for the sustainable development of the livestock sector and to bring it into line with international standards, which will stimulate investment in the livestock sector, in particular for the construction of livestock farms and the procurement of breeding animals.
The new law will also increase animal productivity, increase the quality and competitiveness of animal products and allow them to be promoted more easily in domestic and foreign markets. At the same time, the provisions of the law are to ensure the conservation of the genetic fund of the native animal species, as well as the organization and performance of the official control in the sector.
The draft law was drafted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry.
