Energy Consumption Rises by 15% on the First Working Day After the Holidays – Energocom’s Measures

Experts expect electricity consumption to increase significantly on January 9 compared to January 8. Energocom estimates a 15% rise in energy demand on the first working day after the holidays. However, this increase will remain lower than the one recorded on January 3, another working day.

To meet the electricity demand on the right bank of the Dniester River, Energocom reserved commercial capacity at the border with Romania. The company also announced plans to support local production with energy imports and purchases from the stock market.

Warm weather conditions will lead thermal power plants in Chisinau and Balti to produce less electricity than usual. Meanwhile, forecasts predict a slight increase in renewable energy production. As a result, the country will cover its energy needs through domestic production and import combination.

Energocom continues monitoring the situation closely to prevent any interruptions in the electricity supply across the Republic of Moldova.
