We are preparing for a particularly difficult winter. The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, came with this message at the third meeting of the Support Platform for Moldova in Paris. Maia Sandu declared that our country needs the support of its partners to face the unprecedented energy crisis.
“Together with Ukraine, Moldova is now connected to the European electricity grid and we are making progress in building a new electricity connection with Romania. We made our first gas reserves, we significantly reduced energy consumption – in October alone we reduced natural gas consumption by 38% and electricity by 16%. We are also working to implement renewable energy projects and increase investments in energy efficiency,” the president said.
At the same time, Maia Sandu reiterated that the Republic of Moldova supports Ukraine in this difficult period and condemns the attack of the Russian Federation.
“We stand with Ukraine and are grateful to its people for their courage and sacrifice. The international community must do everything to support Ukraine. We must ensure that Ukrainians can withstand the barbaric attacks and destruction and have the opportunity to fight against a ruthless and tireless enemy”, said Maia Sandu.
“We will join the EU and work together for a stronger and peaceful Europe”, concluded Maia Sandu.
