“These are exactly the areas in which we have committed ourselves to making changes and we will respect our commitment. The Commission will monitor progress in these areas by the end of 2022. This opinion, which comes three and a half months after Moldova’s application for EU membership, strengthens our European aspirations, encourages and strengthens our belief that we are on track. the right one. It is also a huge step, compared to the point where our country was in contact with the EU a year or three years ago “, said Maia Sandu.
At the same time, the President said that the Commission’s view, which is an institutional assessment of the level of general and sector-specific readiness of our country for EU membership, is also the main point of reference for next week’s European Council discussion.
“We are counting on the fact that, at the meeting of the European Council on 23-24 June, the EU Member States will support the recommendation of the European Commission and will grant our country the status of a candidate country.
