Moldova Presents Updated Contribution to EU Expansion Package

The Republic of Moldova is set to present its updated contribution to the European Commission’s Expansion Package for 2023. The document was approved today by members of the Governmental Commission for European Integration, chaired by Prime Minister Dorin Recean. The head of government urged decision-makers to prioritize topics related to Moldova’s accession to the EU.

Dorin Recean commended the progress made in coordinating Moldova’s contribution to the expansion package and called on stakeholders involved in the implementation process to strengthen their efforts in preparing high-quality materials within the established deadlines.

“I urge us to prioritize subjects related to our country’s accession to the European Union. The efficiency of our central administration in providing the necessary responses to the European Commission will contribute to the dynamism of the European integration processes,” stated Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

Vice Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, highlighted that Moldova’s contributions to the expansion package are improved this time around.

Furthermore, Nicu Popescu emphasized the need for each institution to designate a representative exclusively responsible for European integration matters.

Today’s meeting agenda included three topics: the approval by Commission members of Moldova’s updated contribution to the European Commission’s Expansion Package for 2023, an analysis of the European Commission’s recommendations on Moldova’s accession application to the EU, and progress in implementing tasks prioritized within the context of EU accession requirements.

It is worth noting that on April 20, the Republic of Moldova presented its first contribution in Brussels to the report on EU expansion, which will be prepared by the European Commission by October of this year.
