It was necessary to merge the presidential elections with the constitutional republican referendum to ensure a higher presence at the polls. During the show “Rezoomat,” deputy Olesea Stamate, PAS vice-president, affirmed. According to the Electoral Code, the referendum validation threshold is 33%, and the Constitution has to be changed if more than half of the voters who possess a voting option will vote in favor of the new text of the Supreme Law. The fate of the referendum defines 17% of voters. Olesea Stamate urges people to participate in the autumn elections actively.
According to PAS vice-president Olesea Stamate, the ruling party did not initiate the electoral campaign for a referendum before the stipulated time frame in the Electoral Code. The ‘For Referendum’ campaign launched by PAS is a campaign to inform and mobilize citizens at the polls, according to Olesea Stamate.
“It is a public communication campaign informing the public about the forthcoming referendum. Although many discussed the referendum, citizens still don’t know it will be on October 20. It is a considerable exercise for public interaction. The electoral campaign can’t be about communicating what we need to do in the referendum. It is not an electoral campaign if it is to speak correctly there, and everyone needs to participate in the referendum. Write “for referendum” on banners, but don’t include the answer to the referendum question for or against the inclusion of the respective text in the Constitution. “I can expose my subjective opinion, but for this, the CEC must examine whether or not there is room for violation of the law,” said Olesea Stamate on the show “Rezoomat” from RLIVE TV.
The Electoral Code states that for the referendum to be valid, at least a third of those listed on the electoral lists must participate. Citizens adopt a republican referendum if the majority of those who participate vote in favor of it.
A minimum of 17% of the voters in the autumn referendum, according to PAS Vice-President Olesea Stamate, is needed to make the decision.

The Constitution only establishes the 50% plus 1 rule for the four fundamental issues contained in the Constitution.
