The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will support the Government of the Republic of Moldova in implementing key reforms in the areas of public administration, energy, and digital transformation. A new UNDP project worth one million dollars, announced today, will provide Moldova with expertise in essential domains, given its status as a candidate country for EU accession and in the context of multidimensional crises, as reported by MOLDPRES.
Daniela Gasparikova, the UNDP Resident Representative in the Republic of Moldova, stated that “UNDP supports key reforms that will benefit all individuals in Moldova, while also contributing to strengthening resilience to crises and accelerating the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals.”
UNDP will assist in fortifying the Government’s capacity to make anticipatory decisions based on risks and develop evidence-based policies. Furthermore, UNDP will support the implementation of the Public Administration Reform Strategy for the years 2023-2030, recently approved, aimed at strengthening the capacities of local public authorities to provide essential services, especially in crisis situations.

The organization will aid the Government in developing a testing and experimentation framework to implement new energy technologies and innovations that promote energy security and a fair energy transition. Additionally, UNDP continues to support the Government of the Republic of Moldova in the development and implementation of its vision for the country’s digital transformation. A national program for digital literacy for women and girls will be supported, enhancing their capacities to use digital public services.
The project, “Enhancing Resilient Development in Moldova through Anticipatory Crisis Prevention and Inclusive Recovery,” which will take place during the period 2023-2024, is funded through the UNDP’s Governance, Peacebuilding, Crisis, and Resilience Fund, with contributions from Denmark, Luxembourg, the Republic of Korea, and Sweden.
