“Yesterday, we received the first clear signal that Moldova’s accession is not at all impossible or remote. But the speed is primarily set by us, as a government, as a state, as a society”. The statement was made by the PAS deputy, Dumitru Alaiba, after the position announced on August 29 by the German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, regarding the expansion of the borders of the European Union.
Alaiba states that this process is “a transformational one, and Moldova needs it”. “When do we join the EU?”. The moment when we are ready for EU accession depends in the most direct way on the speed with which we want, can and are ready to embrace new things, changes, reforms, in the most different areas.
This process is a transformational one. And yes, Moldova needs this transformation. There are and will be those who want to fight the change, to maintain “the way it is, because that’s the way it is good”, but the pro-reform voices must be stronger. I believe in our people and I know that we are capable of going this way, together. We are capable, we can and we deserve it”, writes Alaiba.
We remind you that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz promised, on Monday, to support the expansion of the European Union. The entry of the Western Balkans countries, Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova and even Georgia are supported.
