Moldova aims to interconnect with the Romanian energy system by 2026. The Moldovan foreign minister Nicu Popescu. specified to Reuters journalists that the implementation of the measure is necessary, to ensure Moldovans with energy.
Popescu stated that Moldova has international political and economic support. However, the implementation procedures, in his opinion, “are slow”.
“Procedures must be reevaluated because we do not live in peacetime. Europe is gripped by a full-scale war – the biggest since World War II. We cannot apply the same speed and the same procedures,” the deputy prime minister added.
Popescu said this was one of the main issues he discussed with German government officials. In context, he mentioned that Moldovan people urgently need the interconnection, but the whole process may take one to five years.
