The Republic of Moldova will soon have its first electric transportation factory. Construction will begin this fall on the Chisinau-Ungheni route near the commune of Trusheni. Local production of electric trolleybuses and buses will commence within a year. Deputy Prime Minister Dumitru Alaiba, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization, announced the news today.
“Good news! The first electric transportation factory in the Republic of Moldova will be built this fall on the Chisinau-Ungheni route, near the commune of Trusheni. We anticipate starting local production of electric trolleybuses and buses within a year. The first electric bus produced in our country, tested last summer and put on the road in Balti, has a range of up to 70 km and can be charged in 30 minutes,” said Dumitru Alaiba.
The company opened the factory recently and delivered 17 electric trolleybuses to Balti, with five more expected to arrive by the end of August.

“This initiative will create about 100 new jobs for the local community. We support local production of electric transportation because it is the most environmentally friendly option,” the deputy prime minister said.
