“Anything can be expected from the current government of Moldova”: Moscow’s reaction to Grosu’s statement about the country’s withdrawal from the CIS

Moldova’s intention to withdraw from the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly is a political game. Grigory Karasin – head of the international committee of the Federation Council, and member of the international commission of the IPA CIS, reacted to the statement of speaker of the RM Parliament Igor Grosu in this way.

The Russian official noted that “anything can be expected from the current government of Moldova.” At the same time, he said that our country had not sent its representative to the IPA CIS events for half a year.

“There are a lot of statements being made, we will rely on the fact that serious decisions will not be made in interviews and statements,” the senator emphasized.

On May 15, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu announced the start of the procedure for the withdrawal of the Republic of Moldova from the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly. The head of the legislature also specified that at the meeting of the Permanent Bureau, he would submit an appeal to Prime Minister Dorin Recean for the preparation of a legislative initiative to denounce the Convention.
