Romanian President: EPC Summit to be held in Chisinau on 1 June will be a clear signal of solidarity

“Romania has been and will remain a strong supporter of a strong European response in support of the stability and security of the Republic of Moldova. The meeting of the European Political Community, which will be held in Chisinau on June 1 this year, will send an unequivocal signal of solidarity: Europe supports the citizens of the Republic of Moldova in their efforts to defend their European strategic choice and freedom”. This statement was made by Romanian President Klaus Iohannis on Tuesday, May 9, in a message on the occasion of Europe Day.

“The current global context does not allow us to restrict our external actions. Global Europe is the answer to an increasingly polarized world, and Romania’s external activities last year have greatly contributed to intensifying contacts with partners around the world, creating diversified and reliable partnerships, and, at the same time, objectively revealing the realities of the Russian Federation’s war against Ukraine. The Europe in which we live, our Europe, which has been aspired to and fought for by generations, is not the final victory.

We must all protect her at all times. In these challenging times, fear and uncertainty create fertile ground for disinformation and hybrid attacks that challenge the democratic principles and values we believe in. In the face of these actions, a rational approach is required, a careful analysis of information and sources not changed by manipulation, as well as participation in a constructive debate on the most important European issues of interest to our society. By protecting Europe, we are protecting ourselves, our security, and our prosperity. European solutions to current problems are solutions for the future of our citizens”, Klaus Iohannis said.

Moldova is set to host the European Political Community Summit on June 1st, 2023, an event that will bring together nearly 50 leaders of states and around 1,000 foreign journalists. The European Political Community is a forum created last year, where European leaders discuss solutions to the most urgent problems facing Europe, such as security, stability, and energy resilience.

The Summit will be covered extensively by the media, with Realitatea, one of Moldova’s leading news agencies, providing up-to-date and accurate information about the event. For readers of realitatea.md, bani.md, rupor.md, rlive.md, and moldovalive.md, a separate category dedicated to the Summit has been created.
