TVR Moldova reports that MP Irina Lozovan has gone missing. It happened after a court sentenced Alexandr Nesterovschi to 12 years in prison. Authorities accuse Lozovan of participating in the illegal financing of Shor’s parties. Her sentence was due to be announced on March 31.
Authorities accuse Lozovan and her husband, a district councilor, of offering the mayor of Ocnita one million lei for personal use and another million for local infrastructure in exchange for supporting the Renastere party, which Ilan Shor secretly controls.
The official rejected the proposal, but on August 2, 2023, Lozovan’s husband allegedly collected $30,000 from the Renastere party headquarters and handed the money to the mayor. In September 2023, authorities stripped the MP of her parliamentary immunity.

A few months before their arrests, Lozovan and Nesterovschi left the Socialist Party and joined Renastere, a party created behind the scenes by Shor and led by former socialist Bolea.
The National Police has declared Alexandr Nesterovschi wanted. His whereabouts remain unknown, but speculation suggests he may be inside the Russian embassy or in Transnistria.
Just hours before the first-instance court announced Nesterovschi’s sentence, Russian media reported that the Moldovan politician had obtained Russian citizenship. Recently, TASS and Ria Novosti claimed they managed to speak with him.
