MEP: The Republic of Moldova will become a candidate country for EU accession in the near future

The Republic of Moldova is in the not that far of gaining the statute of candidate country for EU membership. The statement belongs to MEP Siegfried Mureșan who stated this duting a press conference in Chisinau on Europe Day.

He said that the country should keep pace with the reforms and be well-governed in the next period for this to happen. However, he did not specify a specific date, referring to the complexity of the process.

“I am sure that the Republic of Moldova will receive this status in the near future, but we cannot give a date at this time. We cannot say at the moment how long the negotiations will last, but the accession process will depend on the pace of reforms in Chisinau “, Mureșan declared during a press conference held with the vice-president of the parliament Mihai Popșoi.
